B’NAI B’RITH RETIREMENT VILLAGES LIMITED (the Company) consists of its Directors, including the Administrators who are directly responsible for the Retirement Villages, Princess Gardens at Rose Bay and Kadimah Gardens at Wahroonga, as well as its members who are subscribers through being members of B’nai B’rith in New South Wales. The Company is a non-profit organisation.

The Company operates two retirement villages in New South Wales. The Company employs caretakers at each village, who are responsible for the security of the village and ensuring residents receive emergency health service through VitalCall.

The Company will maintain the privacy of its members by not disclosing details of members’ names, addresses or details without permission of its members.

The Company receives information from prospective and current residents including medical information about each prospective or current resident. The information provided enables the Company to consider the legality of the application by a prospective resident to become a resident of a village in accordance with the Retirement Villages Act 1999 (NSW). The medical information provided enables the Company to ensure that residents receive appropriate care if an emergency arises. The Company will not disclose any such information received from prospective or current residents without the permission of the individual resident.

The Company may also receive information about the financial affairs of prospective residents. The purpose of the information received is to enable the Company to consider the application by a prospective resident. The Company will not disclose any such financial information without the permission of the individual concerned.

Persons who have provided information to the Company may request the relevant Administrator to allow that person access to the information provided by that person.

In the event that a resident is physically or legally incapable of giving consent to the disclosure or physically cannot communicate consent to the disclosure the Company may disclose health information about the resident to a person who is responsible for the resident.

In the event of the death of a resident, information about the religious affiliation of the deceased resident may be provided to the Chevra Kadisha for the purposes of the burial of the deceased. If the information requested in the Application Form(s) is not provided, that may have the consequence that the application to become a resident cannot be considered, or accepted.
